Logitech In-Door Camers May 21, 2010 Fred Ferguson I ordered and installed this new Logitech WilLife Indoor add-on Camera after I installed the Master System. I have enjoyed it so much I upgraded my service to the Platinum Service. I ordered this add-on Indoor Camera from Amazon because I wanted a new Indoor Camera to add to my other two, and they had such a good price on the item. It was purchased through Electronics Expo. I appriciate Internet ordered items having a tracking number for follow-up, and this one did. The item shipped and was delivered as promised. It is up and working and with no problems.I would recommend to anyone who wants an in-expensive motion activated security system to seriously look at the Logitech WilLife Camera system.
Innovation, Price and Ease of Use Outweigh Limitations April 12, 2010 ITP404 (Atlanta, GA USA) This is one of the most innovative and affordable gadgets I've ever encountered! Low price, ease of use and installation earn this home security system five stars. No tools or hard wiring required. Just plug the camera(s) into any wall outlet and it communicates with your PC through your home's electrical wiring. My system has already captured a burglary in progress at a neighbor's house. And I believe the flashing lights on my window-mounted (attached by suction cup) cameras have deterred thieves from my own home. The only downside I've run into is durability. Two of my six cameras have failed within three years of use. However, the cost of replacing them is far less than what I would have paid for systems of equal (or in many cases less) quality. So, I consider it an ongoing "maintenance cost." The advantages of this system far outweigh its drawbacks. I still give it five stars and highly recommend it.
worse than no security March 20, 2010 Kelly J. Doyle For this first couple of weeks this seems like it is a good product, then the truth hits you: this thing is unreliable. My PC has plenty of memory and CPU power, but the software randomly stop recording and the camera has to be rebooted by sticking a pencil in a hole on it. Then it will record again...for a while... before it stops again. My wife had her tires stolen in the driveway under the nose of this less than awesome security device. This is the only time I've felt strongly enough about a product to write a negative review. I wish I could have my money back. Please do not fall under the false sense of security that this shoddy product offers.
They only last a year. March 15, 2010 Cil (Great NW) Ok, been using these now for what? 5 or more years. They quit every year. Outdoor and Indoor ones. I'm not going to buy anymore because they just don't make these sturdy enough.
If I pay $1000 for a system with the addons I want 10 years of service. I don't want to replace the cams one at a time every year or two. So annoying. We wouldn't mind if one set that we bought worked for even say...5 years. We paid $1000, so at $200 a year, I guess that's just okay, but overall, not worth the money.
Their warranty service is horrible. You have to jump through hoops just to get them to send you another one...hours and hours of working through support and they go to a higher level....it is so frustrating. Sorry, but that's the truth. We don't live in a hot climate either....we take care of things....no reason they should stop working.
I love these things. Have 4 cameras now for 6 months. February 1, 2010 M. Barnett (Silicon Valley) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
I love this system. I live in a large house. So far there are 4 cams. 3 are inside, one outside.
You may have to unplug/plug you main USB thing at the computer a couple of times during initial installation of cameras or software install. But after that, it's worked flawlessly.
I even have another power-line network going at the same time.
I use these inside cameras suctioned cups to windows pointing outside. They do really well in my opinion and the software is great. Online viewing is cool too.
I work downstairs and it's a long ways up to the front door. I have a camera on the second floor that point down the driveway. I get a pop-up when the mail truck goes by, a car drives into the driveway, etc. It's FANTASTIC that I don't have to come running or won't miss a doorbell.
At night, I've caught bats flying around outside.
However...... I would NOT recommend it for business use where you need to report exactly what a person's faace is to the police... or need to make out a license plate number.
I'm planning on adding more outside cams as they get slightly better pictures, especially at night. It'll even detect the motion of birds or squirrels if you set it up that high.
So, overall, I can't recommend it enough except that perhaps it's a little expensive but looking at what you get I think it's more than worth it.
